Who we are

Who we are?

The late Bob Mullen founded the Nunthorpe History Group many years ago and had a few other residents assist him. The Group was made up of volunteers who had no funding of significance and many of the cost were borne by himself. We are hoping to gain some support from the Parish and Community Councils ( and elsewhere in due course) to support the work of our volunteers.

Many documents, photographs , maps, stories and reminiscences were collected and have been retained through the support of  Bob's family

In addition  other archival materials have been donated ( some by the family of the late Cliff Kitching of Nunthorpe Village)  and saved and efforts will be made to display these when a suitable location is found.

In the meantime these materials are in safe keeping and some  have been photographed and saved in a data base and some work has been done to archive them so they van be accessed form this website.

There is also  research from various publications and documents and we apologise if all this information is not always referenced properly as we have no record of the source of many of these  Some of these were added to a website which was sadly lost but was also of a limited design.

We are hoping to re-invigorate the group and seek new volunteers to help but also as stated elsewhere, help can take many forms from donations of copies of old photographs , documents and the like, as well as written statements of memories of Nunthorpe folk who have lived here a long time.

We are - at the moment - Ian , Proctor , David Leyland and Lesley Tomlinson from the original group,

and  Matthew Scandrett, Colin Hurworth and Wade Tovey
